Alanya is primarily a beach resort, not a remote work hub — but working from cafes here is more viable than the mass-tourism character suggests. The castle district and the backstreet cafes in the old town are quiet, cheap, and functional for most remote work needs. Turkish mobile data (Turkcell, Vodafone TR) is reliable throughout the town. The main challenge is peak season noise and the absence of dedicated coworking infrastructure.

Off-season (October–May), Alanya becomes noticeably more functional for working — quieter, cooler, and with more locals in the cafes.

Best working spots by type

Castle district cafes

The cafes and çay bahçesi in the streets around the Red Tower and the castle base are the best working spots in Alanya. They serve a mix of local customers and returning independent visitors — not the beach-strip tourist crowd. WiFi is generally functional; the noise level is low; the cost of sitting for several hours is minimal.

Cost per session: Çay ₺20–30; Turkish coffee ₺40–70; snack ₺40–80.

Best hours: Morning (8am–noon) and early evening (after 5pm when tourist traffic has moved to the beach).

Bazaar-area lokantas and cafes

The cafes around the Alanya bazaar and market area open early and close late. These serve the local working population — market traders, shopkeepers, office workers. WiFi quality varies but mobile data as backup makes them functional.

Cost: Very cheap. Çay ₺15–25; breakfast ₺80–150.

Mahmutlar residential cafes

Mahmutlar (15km east) has a developed local café infrastructure serving the large resident expat community. The cafes here are quieter than central Alanya, with generally good WiFi and a more work-friendly atmosphere. Useful for those staying in Mahmutlar.

Transport to central Alanya: Dolmuş ₺15–20, 20 minutes.

SIM cards and mobile data

Turkish mobile data is the most reliable working internet in Alanya. Turkcell, Vodafone TR, and Türk Telekom all have full 4G coverage throughout the town. 5G is available in the centre.

Best network for Alanya: Turkcell has the best inland coverage for those visiting Dim Cave or Sapadere Canyon. Vodafone TR is slightly cheaper for data.

Where to buy: PTT post office (in the market area), official carrier shops on the main commercial streets, or some supermarkets. Passport required.

Tourist data package: 20–30GB for 30 days costs approximately ₺200–400. Sufficient for most remote work including occasional video calls.

Hotspot reliability: Turkcell 4G as a hotspot provides more reliable video-call performance than most café WiFi connections. Use mobile data for important calls.

Coworking options

Alanya has no dedicated coworking space. The nearest options are Antalya (130km west, with several coworking centres) or Mersin (180km east).

Hotel day passes: Several of the larger Alanya hotels sell day-use passes (pool + business centre access). ₺150–300/day. This provides reliable WiFi, air conditioning, and a quiet working environment — the best substitute for coworking in the town.

Negotiate at smaller hotels: Small hotels and guesthouses in the castle district sometimes allow use of their lobby or terrace for regular patrons. Worth asking if you’re staying nearby.

Working hours and seasons

Peak season (June–September): Café working requires careful timing. Beach-area cafes become unusable for concentration work by 10am as tourist traffic builds. Castle district cafes remain quieter. Best working hours: 7–10am or after 7pm.

Shoulder season (April–May, October): The optimal period for work + Alanya. Good weather, quiet enough, full café infrastructure.

Off-season (November–March): Quiet but some cafes close. The town shrinks to its residential character. Those that stay open are functional.
