Rize’s hotel market is simple and oriented toward domestic Turkish visitors and business travellers. The city centre has basic to mid-range hotels; the mountain areas (Ayder, Fırtına Valley) have the more characterful guesthouse accommodation. International luxury accommodation does not exist in this region.

Budget (₺400–900/night)

City centre pensions

Basic hotels and pensions in central Rize — clean rooms, modest facilities, often including Turkish breakfast. Primarily serving domestic travellers and those in transit.

Price range: ₺400–800/night.

Fırtına Valley guesthouses

The simplest and most remote accommodation option — village guesthouses in the Çamlıhemşin area with basic rooms, homemade Black Sea food (mıhlama, hamsi in season, mountain dairy), and the river outside.

Price range: ₺400–800/night including meals.

Mid-range (₺900–2,500/night)

Rize city hotels

3-star business hotels in the city centre — reliable WiFi, comfortable rooms, restaurant or breakfast included. Functional for a comfortable stay.

Price range: ₺900–2,500/night.

Ayder yayla guesthouses

The better-maintained guesthouses in Ayder combine mountain atmosphere with comfortable facilities — private bathroom, heating, and often mountain views from the room. The higher-end options have their own kaplıca (hot spring bath) infrastructure.

Price range: ₺700–2,500/night including breakfast and dinner.

Booking note

Ayder July–August: The Arab tourism peak (primarily from Gulf countries attracted by the cool mountain climate) makes Ayder extremely busy in July–August. Book 2–3 months ahead. Prices are significantly higher than the spring and autumn rates.

Spring and autumn: The best value and most atmospheric periods for Rize and the mountains. The April–May rhododendron bloom and the September–October autumn foliage are worth the trip.
